Booking an event or requesting a brochure
When you book onto an event, we capture your personal data so that we can contact you if there are any changes. Under data protection law, the lawful basis for this processing is known as "for the performance of a contract".
When you request a brochure through the website, we process your personal data so that we can send it to you. Under data protection law, the lawful basis for this processing is based on "the consent of the data subject".
We will only send you promotional material or newsletters if you have consented to receive them. You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing tourism@chesterfield.gov.uk. Withdrawing your consent for marketing will not impact event related communications. Under data protection law, the lawful basis for this processing is based on "the consent of the data subject".
Submitting an event
Event organisers can submit events for inclusion on the website. We collect contact details for the event organiser in order to request further information, or to check the accuracy of information. Contact details will not be published on the website
Under the data protection law, the lawful basis for this processing is "Necessary for the purposes of legitimate interests". In this instance, the Council's legitimate interest is to promote Chesterfield as a tourism destination by providing accurate and relevant information about events and tourism business in the area.
The information provided when an event is submitted, including contact details, may be shared with other local councils’ tourism websites and with the Visit Peak District website.
