Cycling
There’s so much to do in Chesterfield Area that you’re really spoilt for choice. Here are just some of the things that will keep you active while you’re here.
Chesterfield Area has one of the best networks of cycle paths in the country. Bring your bike to try out the Five Pits Trail, the Bluebank Loop, the Cuckoo Way alongside the Chesterfield Canal and the Phoenix Greenways including the Silverhill and Teversal Trails.
Explore our beautiful countryside on two wheels along Chesterfield's Greenways, following the Hipper Greenway through Walton Dam and Somersall Park or through Holmebrook Valley Country Park to Linacre Reservoirs. Check out the southern spur of the Trans Pennine Trail which is a cycling, walking and horse riding route all the way from Chesterfield to Rother Valley Country Park.
Discover our attractions as you wheel your way around the area. Hardwick Hall has a cycle route through the park but watch out for lambs in the spring. A short ride from the Five Pits Trail you can find Renishaw Hall and Gardens. The Archaeological Way starts not far from Creswell Crags and inspired sculptures appear as you follow the Way through Poulter Country Park.
You’ll need extra time to cycle all our trails – just don’t forget your bike – and remember to book for a few days to give yourself time to explore.
