Local Breweries
Chesterfield Area has a wealth of local micro-breweries taking advantage of the clear Derbyshire water. You really need to get a taste of our real ales when you’re here.
Chesterfield was once one of the largest brewing towns in Derbyshire and its most famous Brewery, Brampton, has returned today as an award-winning a micro-brewery and still produces some of the old favourites like Golden Bud and Brampton Best.
Sample brews from Ashover Brewery in Clay Cross where the brewers have been producing beers with malt, hops and passion since 2007. Collyfobble Brewery produces 'belting good ales' from Derbyshire and its beers come complete with a Derbyshire accent like Dunna Wittle (don’t worry) and ‘Supwiyo (what’s wrong with you).
Instant Karma Brewing Company and its front of house pub The Rynkeld Turnpike have a mission to produce quality craft ales and won Drinkers Choice Beer of the Chesterfield Market Beer Festival.
Many of the breweries now have their own pubs, like Brampton Brewery’s Tramway Tavern and The Old Poet’s Corner which was once the home of Ashover Brewery, but most of our micro-breweries sell to free houses and pubs known for their cask and guest real ales.
Why not go home with a taste of Derbyshire in a bottle? You’ll have to stay a while though till you’ve found the one you like best.
