Cafes and Tea Rooms
Take a break for lunch, or coffee and a cake, or a refreshing cup of tea and a scone, at one of our friendly cafés. Cafés in Chesterfield area come in a variety of shapes and sizes, from the large, airy and award-winning Stephenson’s Tea and Coffee House to the licensed Lilypad Café and Restaurant. From the cosy café in historic Dronfield Hall Barn to Meringue with its own bakery. Come on in for a taste.
Let’s start with the Lilypad Café and Restaurant, serving fresh, healthy and vibrant envy inducing options with a varied selection of soft and alcoholic drinks. Their wholesome dishes are made using locally sourced produce.
Moving on to Dine at the Barn in the restored Dronfield Hall Barn with its cosy atmosphere. Their friendly staff will serve you delicious refreshments as you enjoy the historic surroundings. Check the first floor to see history with your own eyes and speak to one of the volunteers about the work and this historic venue’s future.
Back in Chesterfield, visit Meringue Bakery and Café. They emphasise quality ingredients, indulgent flavours, uncomplicated menus and great service in a ‘feel at home’ surrounding.
Hackney House Café in the pretty village of Barlow combines possibly the best cakes in Derbyshire with gifts and cards. We recommend booking in advance as this popular little café is always busy.
The Market Cafe in Chesterfield Market Hall sells mouth-watering food from local suppliers and a range of cakes to die for. Relax over a cup of coffee or your favourite tea and look up through the glass roof at the clock tower just to confirm that, when you’re on holiday, time doesn’t matter.
You can have confidence eating at any of the cafes and tea rooms listed on our website as they all have top marks hygiene ratings of 4 or 5.
There are so many more cafés to choose from and all they have in common is their warm welcome.
