Picnic at Poolsbrook Country Park

About

Poolsbrook Country Park has something for everyone with miles of walks, woodlands, lakes (great for fishing), meadows, sand play areas for children. cafe, picnic sites and four miles of trails of cycling, horse riding and walking and lakes for angling.

The park is home to many forms of wildlife including an impressive range of birds. These include Great Crested Grebe, Cormorants, Mute Swans, Canada Geese, Pink Footed Geese, Wheatears, Yellow Wagtails and even a Red Throated Pipit and Siberian Chiffchaffs have been spotted.

The Coffee Stop Cafe in the Pavilion serves hot and cold drinks and food and is usually open Tuesdays to Sundays (longer in school holidays).

The site is also home to a caravan club site which incorporates a range of sustainable resource and energy-saving features and is heralded as a blueprint for caravan sites of the future. This caravan site has 86 pitches and top-class amenities.

      Road Directions

      From North/South Leave M1 motorway at junction 29A and take A6192 (signposted Staveley and Chesterfield). Follow road for 1½ miles and turn left into Meadows Drive. Take first left turn into Pavilion Drive and follow road into Poolsbrook Country Park car park. From East Follow A617 to M1 motorway. At roundabout take 4th exit (M1 north). Leave M1 motorway at next junction (29A) and follow route from North/South. From West Follow A619 into Chesterfield. At Matalan roundabout (traffic light controlled) select middle lane and take 3rd exit. At traffic lights keep left and go straight on. At roundabout select right hand lane and take 3rd exit. At next roundabout (traffic light controlled) select left lane and take 2nd exit (A617). Follow road to motorway junction and, at roundabout take first exit (M1 north). Leave M1 motorway at next junction (29A) and follow route from North/South.
