About

This is an easy to follow circular walk of 10½ miles which can be shortened to 7½ miles if you have less time or prefer shorter walks. You will encounter stiles and steep slopes, and some areas can be muddy, all of which may make the walk difficult for some people. Please wear suitable clothing and footwear.

This walk takes you through pretty countryside including woodland carpeted in bluebells in spring, meadows, quiet lanes and sleepy villages.

Look out for Cartledge Hall which dates back to the 15th century, and the Old Manor House at Cutthorpe which was built by Ralph Clark in 1625. Both these impressive buildings are in private ownership and are not open to the public.

You will also pass Barlow Pinfold, which was used for penning stray cattle but hasn’t been used for more than 100 years.

The route is waymarked by yellow arrows but scroll down the page for a leaflet with a map that will help you to follow the route.
