About
Starting in Rykneld Square, this walk will take us all around Chesterfield’s hidden town centre but never straying more than a third of a mile from the Crooked Spire. We’ll walk down alleys, up snickets, through jitties, along ginnels, on pavements and across yards - tracing ways for people on foot.
En-route we’ll travel in time from the roman occupation of Chesterfield, through the middle ages and come right up to date to the twenty-first century.
You’ll find things on the walk that you’ve never seen before, but they’re all hidden in plain sight. We’ll take a breather half-way though at the top of Shentall Gardens – where there is seating available. On our return to Rykneld Square, we can, if we want, make our way to one of Chesterfield’s many cafes for refreshment.
