Child Chimney Sweep Image

About

Discover what the worst and most difficult jobs are in the Victorian era and find out about the types of people including children who worked these jobs.

Would you have enjoyed being a chimney sweep, railway worker, rat catcher or tosher? You'll be able to try out some of these jobs and see if you could survive work in the Victorian era.

Make sure you also visit our interactive Victorians exhibition which explores what life was like in the Victorian period and features handling objects, dressing up and Victorian toys and games.

Discover Christmas traditions and have a go at Christmas crafts such as crackers, cards and Christmas Zoetropes which originated from the Victorian period.

The exhibition and event is presented by Chesterfield Museum in partnership with St Bartholomew’s Church.
