Extraordinary Women
An exhibition telling the amazing stories of local women, presented in partnership with Derbyshire LGBT+ and featuring If the Shoe Fits
original artworks created by Chesterfield College Art and Design students which explore ideas of feminine identity.
The free exhibition looks at the lives of pioneering women who have played a significant role in the history of Chesterfield including Mary Swanwick, Violet Markham, Florence Robinson and more.
It will feature stories from across the community as well as various interactive activities including a sound board of famous voices, writing about an inspirational women and designing a shoe that reflects you.
Funded through Arts Council England the exhibition forms part of the Museum on the Move project which aims to help people connect with the borough’s history whilst Stephenson Memorial Hall is closed for refurbishment.
There will also be a printmaking workshop on Saturday 1 March and a codebreaking workshop on Saturday 15 March which are free to take part in.

Road Directions
West Studios has a limited number of parking spaces and there are many Chesterfield town centre car parks nearby. The directions below are to the nearest town centre car park.
From North/South Leave M1 at junction 29 and follow A617 to Chesterfield (approx 4 miles). At roundabout select middle lane and take 3rd exit. At next roundabout select right hand lane and take 2nd exit (Lordsmill Street). Keep to right hand lane and go straight on through traffic lights and round back of 'Crooked Spire' Church. Select right hand lane and go straight on at 1st and 2nd set of traffic lights, approaching large roundabout with car park in middle. Keep to right hand lane and turn right into car park (Holywell Cross). West Studios is a 5-10 minute walk from the car park along Sheffield Road (B6057).
From East Follow A617 to junction with M1 motorway, then follow route from North/South.
From West Follow A619 to Chesterfield. At traffic light controlled roundabout (Matalan) select middle lane and take 3rd exit. Keep to left lane and, at traffic lights, go straight on. At next roundabout select left lane and take 1st exit (Lordsmill Street). Select right hand lane, then follow route from North/South.
